2010 marked the beginning of the I.P.M.A. distance-learning program. The program allows individuals anywhere to study and earn ranks in the I.P.M.A. curriculum. The online program includes learners from coast to coast and internationally. Online students receive unlimited access to video training in specific exercises that teach the principles, strategies, and methods of Yue Chia, as demonstrated by Kochi Kyo, to Eizo Onishi, to Thomas F. Smith, continuing on through the Scafones and future generations to come.
Rank advancement for distance students involves reading and writing assignments pertaining to one's training experience and personal growth, along with submission of video recordings of one's techniques and forms (video submissions are private and are never shared with anyone else). One's progress is evaluated by Head Instructors Christopher and Robyn Scafone, who provide regular, personalized feedback to all online students.
